Trelya is based in St Paul’s Old School, in Penzance, an old primary school building that we use as a base for the youth work we provide. The building is also where our hard working office staff are based, as well as the busy youth workers who drop in when they’re not out and about organising activities around West Cornwall.

Constructed during the late 1800’s the primary school has been a long standing building and the site of many memories for much of the Penzance community. The small school building was once divided into two, providing both infant and a primary classes and later developed to be one main school building. With an outside toilet (which is still in use!), cast iron enclosed fires in each classroom and a small play area at the front of the building, the school had (and still has) plenty of character.

We are always pleased when we meet past pupils and staff of St Paul’s Old School who share their stories about life when the building was a school. People who visit comment on how little it has changed since their school days!

Our building and rooms is available to hire by other community groups, for one-off events or regular classes. We are keen to make the building available to the whole community as much as possible.
