Hidden Treasures Show
15 February 2012
We are delighted to announce the show of paintings, prints and cards by Jennifer Hazel, an extremely talented outsider artist, at the Honeypot cafe in Penzance.
Kate Hazel, Jennifer's daughter is very generously donating part of the proceeds of the sale of works to Trelya.
Kate says that Jennifer had a kind and generous heart and often donated paintings and cards to local charities and is pleased to be in keeping with her Mums's tradition in this donation to Trelya.
This is not the first time that young people at Trelya have benefitted from the sale of Jennifer's works. Donations from the proceeds of work at the 2010 exhibition supported young people to develop their skills and achievements through the medium of art.
The Honeypot cafe is at 5, Parade Street, Penzance.

Young people speak their mind
25 May 2011
Young people from West Cornwall had the opportunity to speak directly to Councillors at an event in Penzance on 25 May 2011.
Young people set the agenda and discussed topics such as housing shortages and the Education Maintenance (EMA).
Councillors have been tasked to take action on a number of issues and will meet again with young people in the autumn to show what progress has been made. All youth groups in West Cornwall are invited, and if you would like to attend you should contact Toni Renwick (trenwick@cornwall.co.uk).
Trelya's Takeaways
13 April 2011
Trelya will be hosting an alternative souvenir shop from a shipping container sited on the Wherrytown end of Penzance Prom.
It has been used over the last couple of months as a space for exhibition, and over Easter members of the community have been encouraged to ‘take over the container’ by holding workshops and chatting and engaging with members of the public.
Trelya were invited to use the container and young people came up with the idea of making some alternative Cornish souvenirs using photos and pictures that they felt were relevant to their lives. They have created pictures in magnets, coasters, badges and key rings, as well as any other unusual items.
This is an opportunity for the community to find out more about Trelya and to meet young people. We look forward to seeing you there on 18th and 19th April.
Rotary Club supports Trelya
22 March 2011
Members of the Rotary Club of Mounts Bay were put to the test in a light hearted quiz with a serious message. Designed to illustrate the typical challenges youth workers face, the quick-fire questions were delivered by staff from Trelya, a charity that supports children and young people at risk of social exclusion in West Cornwall.
The Rotarians’ invitation to Trelya came from their desire to learn more about the issues in their own community, and what they could do to help. Inspired by tales from Trelya, the Rotary Club presented us with a cheque for £500, for which we are incredibly grateful. Our sincere thanks to the members for their support.
